This January, The Tailor Bar welcomes one of Asia’s most influential bar collectives to Amsterdam. From 27 till 29 January, Shanghai’s Sober Company takes over our bar. Expect cocktails that blend Japanese discipline, Chinese ingredients and modern mixology. Join us on this three-day unforgettable cultural exchange shaped by precision, creativity and a shared love for detail.

Amsterdam meets Shanghai in a brand collaboration like no other. Our team and Sober Company join forces behind the bar to create one-off cocktails that blend both identities.

With a constant presence on Asia’s 50 Best Bars, Sober Company is not a single venue but rather an entire world of its own.

Housed within one Shanghai address, it unfolds across multiple concepts:
Sober Café: known for brunches and soft-serve ice cream
Sober Kitchen: serving modern Chinese cuisine
Sober Society: the cocktail-focused heart of the building
Tipsy: a hidden bar that rewards curiosity (if you can find it!)

While each space has its own personality, they share one philosophy: balance tradition with innovation.

Every great bar needs structure. At Sober Company, it is shaped by Kazuhisa Arai, General Manager and one of the key figures behind the venue’s global recognition. With almost a decade in Tokyo’s classic hotel bar, he helped shape the venue’s identity when it launched in 2017. Under his leadership, Sober Company earned a spot on Asia’s 50 Best Bars five times and became known for cocktails that balance precision with guest-focused hospitality.

Where Kazuhisa Arai brings structure, Shingo Sasaki brings momentum. Starting his career in Tokyo’s top hotel bars, Shingo quickly rose to prominence, winning the HBA Food Pairing Cocktail Competition in 2016 as its youngest domestic champion. In 2017, he moved to Shanghai to join Speak Low, helping the bar earn global recognition before taking the lead at Sober Society. Now as general manager, he champions evolution and bold ideas that keep the bar ahead of trends.

This collaboration is not about imitating; it’s about connection. At The Tailor Bar, we tailor cocktails like suits: precise, thoughtful and full of character. Sober Company shares that same spirit, blending heritage with innovation and discipline with play.

For three nights, our bar becomes a crossroad of two cities and two cultures, united by one philosophy: cocktails as an experience, not just a drink.
